1 Chronicles 13:1–4 – Counsel to Bring the Ark

1 Chronicles 13:5–8 – The Ark on a New Cart
What happens: David gathers Israel to bring the ark from Kiriath-jearim. They place it on a new cart and celebrate with songs and instruments.
What it means: Zeal without obedience falls short. God’s holiness requires doing His work His way. Worship needs truth as well as joy.
1 Chronicles 13:9–12 – Uzzah Struck Down
What happens: When the oxen stumble, Uzzah puts out his hand to steady the ark, and God strikes him. David becomes angry and afraid, naming the place Perez-uzzah.
What it means: God’s holiness is not negotiable. Familiarity can breed irreverence. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.
1 Chronicles 13:13–14 – Blessing on Obed-edom
What happens: David leaves the ark at the house of Obed-edom for three months, and the Lord blesses his household.
What it means: God’s presence brings blessing when received rightly. Reverent welcome yields favor. God is both holy and generous.
