1 Peter 4:1–6 – Live for God’s will
What happens: Since Christ suffered, arm yourselves with the same mindset, turning from human passions. The time is past for living in sin. Former friends mock, but they will give account to God. The gospel is preached so people may live to God in the Spirit.

1 Peter 4:7–11 – Love, hospitality, and stewardship of gifts
What happens: The end is at hand; be self-controlled for prayer. Keep fervent love that covers many sins. Show hospitality without grumbling. Use gifts to serve as good stewards. Speak as God’s words, serve by God’s strength, so God is glorified through Jesus Christ.
What it means: God supplies grace for loving community and service that showcase His glory. The principle is stewardship for God’s praise.
1 Peter 4:12–19 – Fiery trials and trusting God
What happens: Do not be surprised by fiery trials but rejoice to share Christ’s sufferings. If you are insulted for Christ, you are blessed. Do not suffer for evil, but if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed. Let those who suffer according to God’s will entrust their souls to a faithful Creator while doing good.
What it means: God is faithful in suffering and uses it for glory and refinement. The principle is joyful trust under trial.
