2 Chronicles 22:1–6 – Ahaziah’s Corrupt Counsel
What happens: Ahaziah becomes king and follows the wicked counsel of his mother Athaliah and Ahab’s house. He joins Joram of Israel in war, and God sets his downfall in motion.
What it means: Advisors shape outcomes, for good or evil. God is just and will not let borrowed wickedness stand.
2 Chronicles 22:7–9 – Jehu’s Purge and Ahaziah’s Death
What happens: Jehu strikes down Joram and then finds and kills Ahaziah. They bury Ahaziah because he is a grandson of Jehoshaphat who sought the Lord.
What it means: God’s judgments are precise and righteous. Even in judgment, God remembers those who once honored Him.
2 Chronicles 22:10–12 – Athaliah’s Massacre and Joash Hidden
What happens: Athaliah kills the royal heirs, but Jehoshabeath hides Joash in the temple for six years under Jehoiada’s care. Athaliah rules the land.
What it means: God preserves His promise through courageous, quiet faithfulness. One act of protection can safeguard a future of hope.
