Amos 7:7–9 – Vision of the plumb line
What happens: The Lord stands with a plumb line and measures Israel. He will no longer pass by; high places and the house of Jeroboam fall.
What it means: God’s standard is righteousness. When a people lean from the true line, judgment comes.
Amos 7:10–17 – Clash at Bethel
What happens: Amaziah, priest of Bethel, accuses Amos and tells him to flee to Judah. Amos answers that he is a shepherd called by God, and he announces judgment on Amaziah’s house and Israel’s exile.
