Summary
Daniel 12:1–3 – Time of trouble and resurrection
What happens: Michael stands up, and there is a time of trouble unlike any before. God’s people whose names are written in the book are delivered. Many who sleep in the dust awake, some to everlasting life and some to shame. The wise shine like the brightness of the sky, and those who turn many to righteousness shine like stars forever.
What it means: God guards his people in the darkest hour. Resurrection and final judgment show his justice and mercy. God values faithful witness and will honor it forever.
Daniel 12:4–7 – Sealed words and set times
What happens: Daniel is told to shut up the words and seal the book until the time of the end. He sees two others and hears the man in linen swear by the eternal One that it will be for a time, times, and half a time, when the shattering of the holy people is finished.
What it means: God’s revelation is precise and held for the right season. Suffering has a limit that serves God’s plan. God keeps covenant even when his people feel broken.
Daniel 12:8–13 – Waiting, numbers, and promised rest
What happens: Daniel asks for understanding but is told the words are sealed. Many will be purified and refined; the wicked will not understand. From the time the regular offering is removed and the abomination set up there are 1,290 days; blessed is the one who waits and reaches 1,335 days. Daniel will rest and stand in his allotted place at the end.
What it means: God calls his people to patient trust when details remain hidden. Purity grows through trials, while the wicked harden their hearts. God promises personal hope beyond death, assuring each saint a share in the final inheritance.
