Esther 7:1–4 – Esther’s Plea
What happens: At the second banquet, the king again invites Esther to speak. She asks for her life and the life of her people, revealing that they are sold to be destroyed. She names the evil without yet naming the man.
What it means: Courage tells the truth with clarity and respect. Advocacy for the vulnerable honors God’s justice. God uses faithful words to expose hidden darkness.
Esther 7:5–10 – Haman Exposed and Executed
What happens: When the king asks who is guilty, Esther identifies Haman. The king, enraged, steps into the garden, then returns to find Haman falling on Esther’s couch. Harbona reports the gallows Haman built for Mordecai, and Haman is hanged on it.
What it means: God’s judgment is fitting and sure. The wicked fall into the pit they dug. Divine justice protects God’s people and vindicates righteousness.
Application
- Speak truth for those in danger, even when it is costly.
- Believe that God will expose evil and bring just judgment.
- Pray for the courage to name sin and ask for mercy at the right time.
