Exodus 24:1–8 – Covenant confirmed with blood
What happens: Moses reads the Book of the Covenant to the people, who agree to obey. He builds an altar, offers sacrifices, sprinkles blood on the altar and the people, and declares the covenant sealed.
What it means: Relationship with God rests on His word and a blood-sealed promise. Forgiveness and belonging require a life-for-life cost under God’s holiness.
Exodus 24:9–11 – Leaders behold God and eat
What happens: Moses, Aaron, Nadab, Abihu, and seventy elders see a vision of God and eat and drink in His presence. God does not stretch out His hand against them.
What it means: God invites fellowship with Himself through a mediator. His mercy makes communion possible without canceling His holiness.
Exodus 24:12–18 – Moses on the mountain forty days
What happens: God calls Moses up to receive the tablets, the law, and commandments. The glory of the Lord appears like a consuming fire, and Moses stays forty days and nights.
What it means: God’s revelation comes from His holy presence. Waiting on God positions leaders to guide His people by His word.
