Isaiah 46:1–4 – Idols Burden, God Carries
What happens: Bel and Nebo bow down; idols must be carried on beasts. God reminds Israel that He has carried them from birth and will carry them to gray hairs.
What it means: False gods weigh people down, but the Lord bears His people. God’s faithful care reflects His covenant love.
Isaiah 46:5–11 – The Incomparable One Declares the End
What happens: God mocks goldsmith gods that cannot move. He declares the end from the beginning and calls a bird of prey from the east to fulfill His purpose.
What it means: God’s sovereignty is total and wise. He alone speaks and performs, exposing idols as powerless.
Isaiah 46:12–13 – Righteousness Near, Salvation in Zion
What happens: To the stubborn, God announces that His righteousness is near. He brings salvation to Zion and His glory to Israel.
What it means: God moves toward His people with saving justice. He keeps promises and displays His glory in mercy.
