Job 35:1–8 – Does righteousness profit God?
What happens: Elihu asks if Job’s righteousness benefits God. He says human sin or righteousness primarily affects other humans.
What it means: God is self-sufficient, yet he delights in righteousness and hates evil. Holiness blesses people around us. Sin hurts neighbors most.
Job 35:9–13 – Cries without seeking the Maker
What happens: People groan under oppression but do not say, “Where is God my Maker, who gives songs in the night.” God does not hear empty cries driven by pride.
What it means: Prayer seeks God, not just relief. Pride blocks communion. God meets humble seekers with grace.
Job 35:14–16 – Wait for God with reverence
What happens: Elihu tells Job to wait, for his case is before God. He says Job multiplies words without knowledge.
What it means: Haste in complaint can miss wisdom. Waiting is faith in action. God honors humble patience.
