Psalm 16:1–4 – Refuge and loyalty What happens: David takes refuge in God and refuses idols. What it means: Trust rejects rival gods. Loyalty to the Lord is life.
Psalm 16:5–8 – Content in God What happens: God is David’s portion, boundary lines are pleasant, and he sets the Lord always before him. What it means: God Himself is our inheritance. Joy and stability come from nearness to Him.
Psalm 16:9–11 – Path of life What happens: David rejoices, confident God will not abandon him to the grave, but will show him the path of life and fullness of joy. What it means: God conquers death and brings everlasting joy. The New Testament applies this to Christ’s resurrection and our hope in Him.
