Summary
Psalm 59:1–4 – Deliver me from bloodthirsty men What happens: Enemies lie in wait though he has done no wrong. He cries for rescue. What it means: God sees unjust attacks. Innocence can still suffer and must seek God.
Psalm 59:5–10 – God laughs at the nations What happens: The Lord of hosts mocks the raging nations. The psalmist looks to God as strength and fortress. What it means: God is sovereign over global turmoil. Strength comes from His protection.
Psalm 59:11–15 – Do not kill them quickly What happens: He asks God to scatter enemies so people learn. Each evening they return snarling for food. What it means: Slow justice can teach communities. Sin is restless and unsatisfied.
Psalm 59:16–17 – I will sing of Your steadfast love What happens: He sings of God’s love in the morning and calls Him his refuge. What it means: Daily praise answers nightly threats. God’s love outlasts fear.
