Summary
Revelation 10:1–7 – The mighty angel and the thunders
What happens: A mighty angel descends with a little scroll open. He calls out, and seven thunders speak, but John is told not to write them. The angel swears that there will be no more delay; the mystery of God will be fulfilled.
What it means: God reveals much yet keeps some things hidden, calling us to trust. His plan moves toward completion on His timetable. He is sovereign over revelation and history.
Revelation 10:8–11 – The little scroll eaten
What happens: John takes the little scroll, eats it, and it is sweet in his mouth but bitter in his stomach. He is told he must prophesy about many peoples, nations, languages, and kings.
What it means: God’s word is sweet to receive but heavy to carry, especially messages of judgment and hope. Calling brings both joy and cost. The gospel reaches all peoples, a theme of mission and covenant promise.
Application
