Revelation 15 Explained — Seven Last Plagues Prepared

Those who overcame the beast sing beside a sea of glass, while seven angels are given the last plagues and the temple fills with smoke. This scene matters because the end of the conflict is now in motion, and no further delay is shown.

Summary

Revelation 15:1–4 – Song of Moses and the Lamb

What happens: Seven angels with the last plagues appear, for with them God’s wrath is finished. Victors over the beast stand by a sea of glass and sing the song of Moses and the Lamb, praising God’s great and just works.

What it means: God’s judgments are righteous and complete. Salvation leads to worship that joins old and new covenant praise. God’s justice vindicates His people.

Revelation 15:5–8 – The temple opens and the bowls are given

What happens: The heavenly temple opens, and the seven angels receive bowls of God’s wrath. The temple fills with smoke from God’s glory and power; no one enters until the plagues are finished.

What it means: God’s holy presence stands behind judgment and cannot be approached on human terms. His plan moves to completion without delay. Holiness and justice are central to His character.

Application

  • Sing praise for God’s righteous acts, even before you see the outcome.
  • Treat God’s holiness with reverence; flee from sin.
  • Trust that God completes what He begins, both in mercy and judgment.

Bible

1And I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvellous, seven angels having the seven last plagues; for in them is filled up the wrath of God.

2And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God.

3And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints.

4Who shall not fear thee, O Lord, and glorify thy name? for thou only art holy: for all nations shall come and worship before thee; for thy judgments are made manifest.

5And after that I looked, and, behold, the temple of the tabernacle of the testimony in heaven was opened:

6And the seven angels came out of the temple, having the seven plagues, clothed in pure and white linen, and having their breasts girded with golden girdles.

7And one of the four beasts gave unto the seven angels seven golden vials full of the wrath of God, who liveth for ever and ever.

8And the temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God, and from his power; and no man was able to enter into the temple, till the seven plagues of the seven angels were fulfilled.
