Summary
Revelation 22:1–5 – River and tree of life
What happens: A river of life flows from God and the Lamb through the city. The tree of life yields fruit each month and heals the nations. No curse remains; God’s servants see His face and reign forever.
What it means: God restores Eden and surpasses it; life and healing flow from Him. Seeing God is the goal of salvation. Blessing replaces curse under the Lamb’s rule.
Revelation 22:6–13 – Trustworthy words and the soon coming
What happens: The angel affirms the words are trustworthy and near to fulfillment. Blessed are those who keep the prophecy. Jesus says He is coming soon and He is the Alpha and Omega, the First and the Last.
What it means: God’s Word is reliable and meant to be obeyed. History belongs to Christ from start to finish. Hope fuels watchful, holy living.
Revelation 22:14–17 – Invitation and warning
What happens: Blessed are those who wash their robes; they have right to the tree of life and the city. Outside are those who love sin and lies. The Spirit and the bride say, “Come,” and whoever is thirsty may come and take the water of life freely.
What it means: Entrance comes by cleansing from Christ, not by self-righteousness. Sin excludes, but grace invites. God’s mercy is open to all who will come.
Revelation 22:18–21 – Do not add or take away; final prayer
What happens: A warning is given against adding to or taking from this prophecy. Jesus promises again, “I am coming soon.” John answers, “Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.” The grace of the Lord is with all.
