Isaiah 11:1–5 – A Shoot From Jesse
What happens: A shoot grows from Jesse’s stump and a Branch bears fruit. The Spirit of the Lord rests on Him with wisdom, understanding, counsel, might, knowledge, and fear of the Lord. He delights in the fear of the Lord and judges with righteousness, defending the poor and striking the wicked by His breath. Righteousness and faithfulness clothe Him like a belt.
What it means: God raises a true King from David’s line when the royal house looks cut down. His rule is marked by justice, truth, and the fear of the Lord, revealing God’s holy character and faithful covenant love.
Isaiah 11:6–9 – The Peaceful Kingdom
What happens: Predators and prey live in harmony, and a child leads them. No one hurts or destroys on God’s holy mountain. The earth fills with the knowledge of the Lord as waters cover the sea.
What it means: God’s salvation restores creation and ends violence. Peace flows from the King’s righteous reign, showing God’s purpose to heal the world, not only Israel.
Isaiah 11:10–12 – Root of Jesse for the Nations
What happens: The Root of Jesse stands as a banner, and nations seek Him. God gathers the remnant of His people from many lands. He raises a signal for the nations and regathers Israel.
What it means: God’s plan includes the nations and the restoration of His people. He is faithful to His promises and makes His King a global hope.
Isaiah 11:13–16 – Reunited People and a New Exodus
What happens: Jealousy between Ephraim and Judah ends. Israel subdues nearby enemies, and God dries up barriers like the Egyptian sea and the Euphrates. A highway appears for the remnant to come home.
What it means: God reconciles divided brothers and removes obstacles to return. He repeats Exodus power, showing His mercy and sovereign might to redeem.
