Revelation 5:1–7 – The sealed scroll and the Lamb
What happens: A scroll sealed with seven seals is in God’s hand, and no one can open it. John weeps until an elder says the Lion of Judah has conquered. John sees a Lamb standing as slain who takes the scroll.
What it means: God’s plan for history requires a worthy Redeemer. Jesus conquers by His sacrifice, revealing redemption at the heart of God’s rule. The cross is the key to God’s purposes.
Revelation 5:8–14 – New song to the Lamb
What happens: Heaven falls in worship with harps and bowls of incense, which are the prayers of saints. They sing that the Lamb ransomed people from every nation and made them a kingdom and priests. Countless angels and every creature praise the One on the throne and the Lamb.
What it means: Redemption is global, forming a priestly people who serve God. Prayer matters in heaven’s story. The Father and the Son share equal glory, showing the unity of God’s plan.
