Ruth 3:1–5 – A Bold Plan for Rest

Ruth 3:6–9 – Appeal for Redemption
What happens: Ruth approaches quietly, uncovers Boaz’s feet, and lies down. When he wakes, she asks him to spread his garment over her, for he is a redeemer.
What it means: Ruth requests protection and marriage within covenant law. Redemption is relational and costly. God welcomes bold, righteous petitions.
Ruth 3:10–13 – Integrity Tested
What happens: Boaz blesses Ruth for seeking covenant faithfulness, not mere youth or wealth. He notes a nearer redeemer but promises to act righteously by morning.
What it means: True righteousness honors God’s order, even when inconvenient. God’s people value integrity over haste. The Redeemer’s character matters.
Ruth 3:14–18 – Patient Confidence
What happens: Ruth departs before dawn to protect reputation. Boaz sends her home with six measures of barley. Naomi assures Ruth that Boaz will settle the matter.
What it means: God cares about purity and reputation. Gifts signal good faith and future provision. Waiting with confidence trusts God’s timing.
