Summary
Zechariah 6:1–8 – Four chariots from the mountains
What happens: Zechariah sees four chariots come out from between two bronze mountains, pulled by red, black, white, and dappled horses. They are the four winds of heaven going out after standing before the Lord. Those going north give rest to God’s Spirit in the north country.
What it means: God commands angelic forces over the nations. His judgments reach the centers of power. When God’s will is done, His Spirit is at rest. Sovereignty and peace belong to Him.
Zechariah 6:9–15 – Crown for Joshua and the Branch
What happens: Zechariah is told to make a crown of silver and gold and set it on Joshua the high priest. He announces the Branch who will build the temple, bear royal honor, sit as priest on his throne, and bring peace between the two offices. The crown is kept in the temple as a memorial, and those far off will come to build.
What it means: God unites priestly and royal roles in His chosen ruler. He alone builds God’s true temple. Peace and unity come under His reign. The nations share in God’s house as His promise unfolds.
