Summary
2 Timothy 4:1–5 – Preach the Word, Stay Sober
What happens: Paul charges Timothy before God and Christ who will judge the living and the dead: preach the word in season and out, reprove, rebuke, exhort with patience and teaching. People will gather teachers to suit their desires, turning from truth to myths. Timothy must be sober, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill his ministry.
What it means: God’s word stands against shifting desires. Faithful ministry is patient, courageous, and evangelistic. God will judge, so truth and love must guide us.

At his defense no one stood by him, but the Lord stood by and strengthened him so the message was fully proclaimed; the Lord will rescue him and bring him safely into His heavenly kingdom.
What it means: Human support may fail, but the Lord never does. God’s presence empowers witness in trial. The King guards His servants to the end.
