Psalm 97:1–6 – Clouds, fire, glory What happens: The Lord reigns; clouds and thick darkness surround Him; fire goes before Him. The heavens proclaim His righteousness. What it means: God’s holiness is awesome and pure. His rule reveals righteousness to the world.
Psalm 97:7–9 – Idols shamed What happens: Worshipers of images are put to shame; Zion rejoices because God is exalted above all gods. What it means: God alone deserves worship. False gods cannot stand before His glory.
Psalm 97:10–12 – Hate evil, rejoice in the Lord What happens: Light is sown for the righteous; they are told to hate evil and give thanks. Joy marks those who are upright in heart. What it means: Holiness means loving what God loves and hating what He hates. Joy grows where righteousness rules.
